Netgear Digital Entertainer EVA700

Bring all your digital content from your PC and the Internet directly to your TV with the first edition of Netgear's Digital Media Extenders. Stream your digital videos, photos and music to your home entertainment system or TV.

The NETGEAR Digital Entertainer is Intel Viiv verified and supports access to content, applications and services available on Intel Viiv technology-enabled PCs. It also supports access to content on Microsoft Windows Media Center PCs through Windows Media Connect, and other universal plug-and-play (UPnP AV) media servers, such as TwonkyVision.

The EVA700 streams digital movies, videos, music, radio and photos from your PC. You can also play streaming media content, such as music and video from the Internet, by connecting to your home network and router. You can also play files saved on a USB storage device such as an iPOD, USB thumb drive, USB disk, and some digital cameras with a USB interface by connecting any of these to the front USB port of the Digital Entertainer.

You can use the wired ethernet port to connect the EVA700 directly to your wired home network, or add the optional Powerline HD Ethernet Adapter Kit (HDXB101) for high quality video and maximum streaming speeds across multiple rooms with much better results than a standard 802.11g WiFi network.

Reviews are mixed on the EVA700 with many noting the software lacks a lot to be desired and others had difficulties streaming video over the wireless connection. As mentioned above, Netgear really pushes the use of their Powerline products with the EVA700 so if your EVA700 would be a good distance from your router or wireless access point, you might want to consider that.
